KOKRAJHAR: The Delhi unit committee of the ABSU on Tuesday expressed surprise at the sudden notification of disqualification of the unit committee by the central committee for reasons best known to them.

In a press meet held at Kokrajhar Press Club, the president of the Delhi unit committee, ABSU, Maidang Basumatary said the central committee of the ABSU vide reference no. ABSU/official/2020//July/01published on July 4, sent a dissolution order of the unit ABSU. She said that they were upset over the sudden notice that Delhi ABSU unit had been non-existent since November, 2018. She said the order was saddening and unwarranted for them. Basumatary said the executive meeting of the Delhi unit of ABSU was held on November 18, 2018 at the Gandhi Peace Foundation in Delhi. She said the executive body of 2018 was invited to a meeting called by the central committee, ABSU to put forward their displeasure regarding the formation of the executive body and the executive body had clarified facts and address concerns of the central ABSU.

"Naturally, there was no direction from the central ABSU committee on the dissolution of the executive body of ABSU, Delhi unit but instead the executive body of 2018 was directed to continue until a new body is formed by the central executive body of the ABSU," she said, adding that the sudden order of disqualification had hurt the sentiments of the members of the existing body. Basumatary also said the statement issued by the central committee, ABSU on July 4 remained misleading as the existing executive body members of Delhi unit, ABSU were not informed about the dissolution.
