Dibrugarh: Following the gruesome and untimely murder of Om Prakash Agarwala, a resident of the Graham Bazar area on Tuesday evening by unidentified miscreants, most commercial establishments of the New Market area, HS Road, Akbar Patty, and RKB Path kept their shutters down in solidarity with the incident on Wednesday.
The hustle and bustle of the market area were replaced with a state of inactivity for around eight hours. The body was taken for the last rites at around 4 pm. On its way, the crowd, which accompanied the body to the crematory, halted in front of the Sadar Thana at Thanacharali for a few minutes. Raising concerns as to how such a dreadful incident could take place in a busy and densely populated area like Graham Bazar, they demanded quick justice in the matter. Some people in the crowd also highlighted the fact that the lane adjacent to the Graham Bazar Eidgah field – the spot where Agarwala was killed - was kept poorly lit despite several complaints being lodged against it in the past with the authorities concerned.
