LAKHIMPUR: The opposition to the controversial Electricity Bill, 2021 continues in Lakhimpur district.
On Thursday, the Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Electricity Consumers' Association submitted a memorandum to Union Power Minister Raj Kumar Sing demanding the scrapping of the Electricity Bill, 2021. The organization has termed the Bill concerned to be a blueprint chalked out for the privatization of the power sector in India.
Through the memorandum, the organization further demanded the Union Power Minister to stop launching prepaid electricity meters, to supply free-of-cost electricity to the farmers, and to charge only one rupee from small-scale businessmen for each unit of electricity.
