Demand to roll back New Pension Scheme

If the New Pension Scheme (NPS) is not rolled back within 2023 by the Central Government, the All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) will not allow the Narendra Modi-led BJP government to ascend to power again in 2023

TINSUKIA: "If the New Pension Scheme (NPS) is not rolled back within 2023 by the Central Government, the All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) will not allow the Narendra Modi-led BJP government to ascend to power again in 2023," declared All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) general secretary Shib Gopal Mishra at the 98th AIRF's delegate convention that concluded on Wednesday at Puri.

In a press release issued by Pulak Gogoi, central assistant secretary of NFR Mazdoor Union, he conveyed the message of Mishra and added that the BJP-led government failed to understand the protest language of the public. The Railway employees, along with other state and central government employees numbering around 5 lakh, have decided to gherao the Parliament in March 2023, Gogoi stated.

In the convention chaired by Dr N Kanniah, president of AIRF, several issues were discussed and they demanded release of 18 months' arrear DA, halt to anti-worker policy, filling up of vacant posts etc. Participated by several national and international leaders, the NFRMU led by Dilip Chakraborty, Ashish Biswas, Piyush Chakraborty and others was represented by delegates from 52 branches of NFR, stated Gogoi.
