LAKHIMPUR: One of the prominent leaders of Lakhimpur during the Anti-Foreigners Agitation, Nabina Bhorali is no more. She passed away on January 4. She was the wife of Lalit Chandra Bhorali, permanent resident of Ward No. 11 of North Lakhimpur town. She was the mother of Padma Shri Dr. Uddhav Bhorali, the internationally acclaimed innovator.

Nabina Bhorali was suffering from old-age ailments. She was admitted in the ICU of North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital where she breathed her last. She was 85.

Born at Gorehoga under Azad area of Lakhimpur district, Nabina Bhorali was involved in social works since her student life. In North Lakhimpur, she led the women activists of the Assam Movement. She was involved with various social institutions of North Lakhimpur town and was popular among the people for her amiable nature. She is survived by two sons and three daughters along with a host of relatives. Many individuals, institutions and organizations of the district, including Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students' Union, Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti, Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad, and All Assam Unemployed Association expressed grief at her demise and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
