Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) Election 2022: Control Room set up in Lakhimpur; 26 nominations found valid

LAKHIMPUR: In connection with the ensuing Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) Election -2022, to be held on November 8, a Control Room has been set up at Room No. 11 of the Deputy Commissioner's office of Lakhimpur district. The landline telephone number of the Control Room is 03752222273. People can contact the authority concerned through the telephone number regarding any election related matters and issues.

On the other hand, all the nomination papers submitted by the candidates to contest in the election from 7 DAC Constituencies under Lakhimpur district were found valid during the scrutiny held on Thursday. The DAC Constituencies under the district are No. 15 Bor Deori Constituency (ST), No. 16 Bahgora Constituency (ST, Woman), No. 17 Kachikota Constituency (ST), No. 18 Pisala Constituency (ST, Woman), No. 19 Kina Pothar Constituency (ST), No. 20 Bongalmora Constituency (ST) and No. 21 Gabharu Tunijan Constituency (ST). To contest from these constituencies, six BJP candidates, one AGP candidate, three Congress candidates, two Aam Aadmi Party candidates and 14 independent candidates submitted their nomination papers. Assam State Election Commission has fixed October 24 as the last date for the candidates to withdraw the nomination papers and on the same day, the final list of the candidates will be announced.

Notably, the DAC has a total of 22 constituencies covering eight districts of Assam, such as Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Biswanath, Majuli, Dibrugarh, Tinisukia, Jorhat and Sivasagar. The headquarters of the DAC is located in Narayanpur of the Lakhimpur district.
