DHEKIAJULI: The Dhekiajuli Weekly Market which was shut down for the last five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic was reopened on Sunday. Due to the shutdown of the weekly market hundreds of small business owners involved with the weekly market had lost their livelihood during this period. For the last few days the small business owners had urged upon the local administration for reopening of the Dhekiajuli Weekly Market. The local administration after thorough study of the COVID-19 pandemic situation has decided to reopen the weekly market. But instruction was issued to maintain COVID-19 protocol during the market hours. This correspondent visited the Dhekiajuli Weekly Market on Sunday during the peak hours and observed that no COVID-19 protocol was maintained during the hours. Neither the shopkeeper nor the customers maintained the COVID-19 protocol. No mask, no sanitizer was used by the shopkeeper or the customers in any part of the market.
