Dibrugarh: DHSK Commerce College, the first full-fledged commerce college in the entire north-eastern region, has come up with some new achievements recently, bringing pride for the academic fraternity here.
The college was accredited with ‘B’ grade with a score point of 2.48 by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team in September last year. Again on January 24 this year, during the 15th Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting of RUSA, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, approved the institution for grants under ‘Rastriya Ucchatar Siksha Abhiyan’(RUSA) component: ‘Upgradation of Existing Degree Colleges to Model Degree Colleges’.
According to sources, this was communicated to the college authority by the Secretary, Higher Education and Rashtriya Ucchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Government of Assam, vide letter ASHEC/RUSA/ Up-gradation to MDC 2.0/192/2017/1377 on February 6 this year. As per the instruction concerned, Detailed Project Report (DPR) for grant under infra-structural development has already been submitted by the college to the authority concerned. The upgradation of the heritage institution of higher education in commerce to a model college has brought a new ray of hope for the institution, particularly in regard of infrastructural development segment.
On the other hand, the 342nd meeting of the executive council of Dibrugarh University was held on March 23 and vide its 28th resolution, accorded permission to the institution to start M. Com. programme from the academic session 2019-20 with a maximum intake capacity of 20 students. Now students will be able to peruse regular M. Com course in the college. Dr KM Bhagawati, the Principal, has expressed gratitude to all the stakeholders for their co-operation in bringing a series of achievements for the institution.
