Dhubri celebrates District Day in District Library auditorium

DHUBRI: Dhubri District Day was celebrated with a day-long programmes under the auspices of Dhubri district administration in Dhubri District Library auditorium on Saturday. Dhubri District came into being on July 1, 1983 by carving out of Goalpara district located extreme west of Assam with three sub-divisions - Dhubri, Bilasipara and South Salmara-Mancachar.

Coinciding with the celebration of Dhubri District Day, 53 Bihuyan and Bihubati who participated in the Bihu dance programme on April this year in Guwahati, were felicitated by Guardian Minister, Jayanta Malla Barua and as a mark recognition for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records, all the participants of state were given an honorarium Rs. 25,000/- each including 53 of Dhubri district by transferring the amount online to their bank account on Saturday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Guardian Minister spoke at a length on the glorious history of Dhubri district and many a ways out for its development.

Barua called upon the young generation to explore the new opportunities to protect the cultural milieus of the district and stride towards its socio-economic development.

In order to showcase the rich cultural, historical and heritage of the district, an exhibition on the glorious past, replica of folk, legend, history, heritage sites, terracotta, pith craft, numismatics, materials made of water hyacinth and jute was held at Dhubri District Library premises which was organised by Dhubri District Museum.

In the evening, a seminar on “Evolution of Dhubri District” was held followed by cultural programme.

During the celebration of Dhubri District Day, a day-long programmes such as blood donation camp, quiz and art competition, football match, walkathon, flood mock drill, adoption of SAM children, awareness on Child Marriage, health camp in sar areas, disposal of plastic, Paddy to Millets Mission were organized across the district.

BILASIPARA: Under the joint aegis of Bilasipara Civil administration and Bilasipara Municipality, the 41st foundation day of Dhubri district was held on Saturday. In this connection a public meeting was held in the premises of Pratima Baruah Pandey Auditorium. At the very outset Manoranjan Payeng, ADC, cum SDO (Civil), Bilasipara Sub-Divn explained the aims and objectives of the meeting. The meeting was addressed by Sheikh Hedayetullah, retired principal of Chapar Ratnapith College, Dayal Paul, senior citizen, Dr. Muzammel Hoque, secretary of Bilasipara Senior Citizen Forum, Bhola Roy sang a few songs. A group of school studens presented a Bihu dance. The programme was anchored by Dr. Haricharan Das, librarian of Bilasipara College.
