GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has postponed the hearing on the bail pleas of three doctors involved in issuing a fake post-mortem report in the sensational rape and murder case of a minor girl in the Darrang district of Assam.
It may be recalled here that the the 13-year old girl who was working as a domestic maid in the house of arrested SSB jawan Krishna Kamal Baruah, was found dead in his Dhula residence in June.
The three Government doctors Ajanta Bordoloi, Anupam Sarma, and Arun Chandra Deka who were serving at the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital were arrested by the Police earlier on November 7.
Meanwhile, the High Court also rejected the anticipatory bail of Ashirbad Hazarika, former Executive Magistrate of Dalgaon.
While hearing the case on Friday, Justice Robin Phukan granted public prosecutor M. Phukon two days time for submitting the statements of petitioners, namely Ajanta Bordoloi, Anupam Sarma, and Arun Chandra Deka.
The Gauhati High Court further directed the public prosecutor to present the updated case diary on November 14 without any delay.
Earlier, public prosecutor Phukan had mentioned before the Court that the case diary was already submitted but the statements of the three arrested doctors were not on it, hence he requested for another two days to update the same.
Advocate AM Bora appearing on behalf of the accused doctors stated before the Court that a chargesheet was already filed by the Police against Krishna Kamal Baruah on June 12.
On the other hand, the High Court rejected the anticipatory bail application of Former Executive Magistrate of Dalgaon, Ashirbad Hazarika stating it as 'infructuos' as he was arrested before his bail was moved in the Court. Hazarika who was summoned by the CID in the Dhula rape and murder case finally surrendered on November 10.
