Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, in the backdrop of the COVID pandemic and Durga Puja, has declared October 26 -the day of Vijaya Dashami- as a dry day till the immersion of Durga idols is completed.

All the foreign and country liquors warehouses / IMFL 'OFF' /'ON' CLUB 'ON', retail sellers of country liquor and business establishments dealing with the selling of liquors are to be closed on the same day. Violation of this directive in any form is liable for strict action. Referring to resolution no. 7 of the meeting held on October 16, DC Jha, in another directive, stated that all licensed IMFL 'ON' shops will remain open from October 23 to October 25 till 9 PM. Violators of this directive will also be punished as par law.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, by an order under the Health and Family Welfare Department's notification and Pandemic Act of 1987, has prohibited holding fairs, setting up of roadside food kiosks and other shops during Durga Puja.
