Dibrugarh police arrested 4 cattle smugglers, recovered 98 stolen livestock

The SIT team of Dibrugarh police arrested four cattle smugglers and recovered 98 stolen livestock from their possession.

DIBRUGARH: The SIT team of Dibrugarh police arrested four cattle smugglers and recovered 98 stolen livestock from their possession.

One of the arrested persons, Akhtar Raja Khan alias Tiklu Khan, as police stated, was injured by police firing while he tried to escape from police custody. Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra, while briefing media persons, stated that the SIT team headed by Deputy SP headquarter, had no option except to fire at him when he tried to jump into the Brahmaputra River in order to avoid police arrest. Police shifted Khan to AMCH for treatment. The SP said that he was on the road to recovery. The other two arrested persons are Mohammed Anwarul Haque, and Mohammed Anish Rahman.

Police registered a case (no 1339/21) U.S 468/471/429/153 (A)/379/411 I.P.C.) All the recovered livestock have been shifted to Dibrugarh Goshala. Police investigation is on.
