DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh police arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in connection with the stealing of a 33 KV electric tower. The persons have been identified as Akash Baruah, Hiranya Khargharia, Shankar Pator, Monu Mira, Dharmavir Buragohain and Pulu Gohain. Police have arrested them from Madarkhat, Gohain Gaon under Lahowal police station on Friday.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the matter. "After getting specific information, a team from Lahowal police station, conducted a raid and arrested them red-handed when they were involved in cutting the voltage tower," said Dibrugarh Superintendent of police Shwetank Mishra.

Mishra said, "We have recovered 4 quintals of the material from their possession. They have been involved in this stealing for many days. A case 49/2022 u/s 379 IPC was registered at Lahowal police station against them."

"We have started our investigation. Till now we have found the involvement of these six person in the stealing of the electric voltage tower. More people are likely to be involved in the racket."
