Numaligarh: An oil tanker was gutted in a devastating fire on NH-39 near Purabangla on Friday night. As per sources, the diesel oil tanker (AS-23D-1795) was traveling towards Guwahati from Golaghat when the tanker lost control and skidded off the road. It caught fire immediately after the accident.
Due to spilled oil from the oil tanker, the fire spread and engulfed a part of the roadside paddy field in the area. The traffic on the highway was totally shut for hours due to the accident. As soon as the incident was reported, multiple fire engines from the Golaghat fire station and Numaligarh Refinery fire station reached the spot and took control over the situation. There were no reports of injury to the driver and handyman of the oil tanker. Witnesses stated that the duo escaped before the vehicle caught fire after the accident took place.
