Differently-abled persons' screening camp organized in Goalpara

GOALPARA: The District Social Welfare (DSW) department, in collaboration with the office of the Joint Director of Health Services (JDHS), Goalpara organized on Tuesday the first screening camp for differently-abled persons at Agia Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) under Krishnai Balijana ICDS Project.

The screening Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Abhijit Basu, JDHS, in presence of Nileswar Ray, DSWO-cum-in-charge of Balijana Krishnai ICDS project. At least five doctors, ICDS supervisors, Asha and Anganwadi workers participated in the screening camp along with many specially-abled persons.

In Goalpara district, both the DSW and JDHS offices have chalked out a plan to organize several screening camps for the differently-abled persons for the issuance of disability certificates. BPHEs under seven of ICDS Projects have been readied for this purpose. "The government works for the best interest of the people. Thus, we have decided to bring our office to the door steps of the differently-abled persons so that they don't need to visit the district offices and face difficulties," said Nileswar Ray, DSWO.

The joint initiatives of Dr. Abhijit Basu, JDHS, and Nileswar Ray, DSWO, have off late made both the social welfare and health departments easily accessible for the common people.
