HAFLONG: Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa ceremonially distributed Orunodoi 2.0 cards to 5,000 new beneficiaries of Dima Hasao at the NL Daulagupu Stadium, Haflong on Wednesday.
The grand ceremony was organized by the Dima Hasao district administration and was attended by DHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa as chief guest. District Commissioner Simanta Kr. Das briefed about the objective of the distribution of Orunodoi 2.0 cards to new beneficiaries under Orunodoi 2.0 scheme.
More than 6,000 people attended the programme. A video message of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Orunodoi 2.0 was played. In the district, with the inclusion of more than 5,000 new beneficiaries the updated edition of this poverty alleviation scheme will be Rs 2.80 crore, including 14,000 old beneficiaries.
In the programme, CEM Gorlosa termed this scheme as the largest social-sector scheme in the history of the State with the capability of radically transforming the lives of the people. Gorlosa said, “Altogether 5,000 new beneficiaries have been added to Orunodoi 2.0. With this, the total number of beneficiaries in the district will be around 19,000.” He also encouraged the villagers to apply for Aadhaar card to avail not only Orunodoi but also other Central and State government schemes as well.
The CEM further said, “I extend my gratitude to the people of Dima Hasao for keeping their trust in me and it gives me immense energy and motivation to make our district as one of the best districts in Assam.” Executive Member Ngamrothang Hmar, NCHAC chairperson and others were present in the programme.
