Dima Hasao DC pays surprise visit to Haflong COVID Hospital

Following the instructions from Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua paid a surprise visit to Haflong COVID Hospital at about 11 pm on Wednesday.

HAFLONG: Following the instructions from Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua paid a surprise visit to Haflong COVID Hospital at about 11 pm on Wednesday.

Taking stock of the situation, he discussed with on duty doctors and nurses so that COVID patients get proper treatment. DC Barua told media persons that as per instruction from the Chief Minister to visit the COVID hospital at odd hours, he visited the hospital and discussed with the on-duty doctors and nurses about few issues which would be taken care of.

Dima Hasao district on Wednesday recorded 82 COVID positive cases. Total 303 patients had been discharged after recovery and the number of active cases is 312. There are 259 patients in home isolation and 37 in hospital. Though as per report, the number of positive cases is receding elsewhere in Assam, Dima Hasao's position is alarming and shows upward trend. As the number of tests has been enhanced since the past three days, the positive cases too have proportionately increased.

Meanwhile, Executive Member i/c Medical, Samuel Changsan informed that in continuation with the battle against the second wave of COVID-19 and in concurrence with the Central Government and Assam Government's decision of support to essential oxygen production, Haflong Civil Hospital has been selected, amongst nine others, for immediate setting up of a 1000 LPM PSA Oxygen Generation by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This will have long-term benefits during and beyond the COVID pandemic.
