HAFLONG: The Dima Hasao District Congress Committee demanded the resignation of the Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Debolal Gorlosa on moral grounds otherwise the DCC would launch agitation throughout the district after July 10, said Kalijay Sengyung, general secretary of DCC, on Tuesday.
Kalijay Sengyung along with Mohendra Kemprai, former Executive Member, Aripom Bodo and others addressed a press meet at the Rajiv Bhavan, Haflong. Sengyung said the Gauhati High Court had directed trial of five accused, including Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member of NCHAC, in the twin brutal killings of former council member Nindu Langthasa and former Chief Executive Member of NCHAC, Purnendu Langthasa on June 4, 2007. The Assam Government has filed the charge sheet against the five accused under IPC Section 121 and 121 A in a case between Daniel Langthasa, son of Nindu Langthasa, and the State Government. Therefore, for the sanctity of democracy, Gorlosa should resign on moral grounds, Sengyung added.
