HAFLONG: The Dimasa Mothers' Association (DMA) has appealed to all the people of Dima Hasao district to be united in the fight against the unprecedented challenge the entire world is facing now due to coronavirus, through a press release signed by president and secretary Bimala Langthasa and Maiphal Kemprai respectively.

"With the advent of the year 2021 and the gradual drop in corona positive cases, a ray of hope had gradually emerged in the lives of all in Dima Hasao too, along with the rest of the world, with people getting back to their normal lives. Although there had been series of warnings from the medical experts regarding the second dreadful wave of the virus, which was likely to be stronger and highly infective mutant strain, the people began to be casual, ignoring all COVID appropriate behaviour. As a result today we are in this state where within a short span of just three months we are with a figure of 403 positive cases, with three deaths and many who are fighting for their lives in hospitals in Haflong and also across the State," the press release stated.

"As it is a known fact that our district is short of adequate medical facilities, with limited resources and manpower in the medical department and also other amenities, the current trend by which the COVID cases in Dima Hasao is rising is very grim and highly dangerous for people here. Considering all the above stated matters, we the mothers' organization of this district- DMA- wish to appeal to everyone to kindly abide by COVID appropriate behavior and follow the guidelines as issued by the medical experts," the press release further stated.
