HAFLONG: The 36-hour bandh called by Dimasa National Liberation Army evoked spontaneous response in Dima Hasao affecting normal life in the district. The bandh was called demanding a separate state to be carved out from Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Hailakandi and Karimganj district of Assam for the Dimasa community mentioned it as "Hiramba Raji Rajya".

The bandh was called for 36 hours in several districts of Assam on August 14 and 15. The districts are Hojai, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Hilakandi to Karimganj. The shutdown has been called from 5: 00 am of August 14 to 5.00 pm of August 15. At Haflong all the vehicles were off the road. Few, offices, banks, market etc. remained closed.
