Discussion programme on 'Life and Literature' held at Gargaon College

The Department of English, Gargaon College under the aegis of Gargaon College English Literary Association organized an inter-class discussion programme

SIVASAGAR: The Department of English, Gargaon College under the aegis of Gargaon College English Literary Association organized an inter-class discussion programme on the topic 'Life and Literature' on Monday. The discussion was held among the major students of the 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters of English Department to exchange views on life and literature.

Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, noted columnist and Principal of Gargaon College appreciated the noble effort of the faculty members of the English Department, Gargaon College for organizing such an innovative programme among the students which will go a long way in enriching their views on life and literature.

The students of the English Department actively participated in the programme, highlighting their thoughts and opinions on the various aspects of life and literature. Students opined that literature serves as a reflection of reality and still exists as an expression of art, a source of knowledge and a window to an ideology.

Dr Rina Handique, Vice Principal of Gargaon College appreciated the students' active participation and spoke on the significance of literature and its relevance in life and society. Rajib Gogoi, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of English, highlighted the value of life and the role of literature on human life. Dr Anjan Konwar, Dr Jitu Saikia and Bitupal Borgohain, Assistant Professors of the English Department, Gargaon College also shared their views on the occasion and thanked all the students for their lively interactions. Students from the 2nd Semester, Mausumee Punya Phukan, Deepanwita Borpatra Gohain, Ankita Borah, Subhrajit Konwar, Palabi Handique from the 4th Semester and Rutuja Deori, Sadananda Buragohain from 6th Semester of the department spoke on the topic, Life and Literature. Prastuti Phukan of 4th Semester offered the vote of thanks to all concerned.
