Displeasure over transfer of DSP (Hq) Bitul Chetia

TINSUKIA: People of Tinsukia district, particularly of Baghjan, expressed displeasure over the transfer of DSP (Hq) Bitul Chetia who gave succour to the distressed people of Baghjan. Chetia, by his tactical approach, controlled the volatile and highly aggressive situation in the aftermath of the Baghjan oil blowout even when officials from the district administration and OIL did not dare to venture in such an inflammable situation. The crisis is yet to die down.

Chetia, a decorative, honest and affectionate police officer and former college teacher, has been promoted to Additional SP rank and transferred to ONGC 2 AP Bn at Sibsagar as Assistant Commandant. He was very supportive to the media too. The conscious citizens of Tinsukia desire that Chetia be posted back to Tinsukia district as he will be transferred again prior to election as Sibsagar is his home district.
