LAKHIMPUR: The ceremonial function for the distribution of the Anundoram Borooah Award, 2018 was held in Lakhimpur on Wednesday in a befitting manner. This year, a total of 850 students of the district were potent enough to secure the award by securing 75 per cent and above marks in the HSLC and High Madrassa Exam held in 2018. Out of them, 839 students were HSLC examinees while the rest eleven students passed the High Madrassa exam with flying colours. In the event, the award was ceremonially distributed to Nabajit Borah, Robin Chayengiya, Hasina Ahmed and Tonmoyee Gogoi.
Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah took part in the event, chaired by Development Deputy Commissioner Debashish Baishya, which was organized at the Lakhimpur District Library auditorium. Delivering an inspiring lecture, the MP urged the students to nurture their talent for building the society as well as the nation.
Basnta Saikia, the representative of P&RD Minister Naba Kumar Doley, and Lakhimpur BJP president Phanidhar Baruah delivered inspiring lectures at the function in which North Lakhimpur College (autonomous) Principal Dr. Biman Chandra Chetia was present as guest of honour. ADCs Bipul Kumar Das, Dipankar Das, DEEO Kabita Deka were also present in the function. Around 390 students of Narayanpur and Dhakuakhona of the district were conferred the award on Wednesday while the students of Bihpuriya and North Lakhimpur will be given away the award on Thursday.
