Biswanath Chariali: A good number of tobacco products were seized in Biswanath Chariali town on Sunday by the district administration. According to information, a team comprising Executive Magistrate Biswajit Saikia, Excise Inspector Sharat Timung, sub-inspector of the Food and Civil Supply Department, Bhaben Kumar and others carried out search operations in two business establishments viz. Sri Krishna Store and M/s Mahendra Nath Sharma and managed to seize 2,200 packets of Kamala Pasand, 30 packets of Bimal Zarda, 315 packets of Shikhar, 270 packets of Nevala tobacco, 1,200 packets of Tulsi Zarda, 120 packets of Signature and other such items from the two businessmen.
The operation will continue in other parts of the district. Biswanath district administration banned selling of such products in the district on Saturday.
