District Disaster Management Authority meeting held in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: A meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority was held on Thursday in the conference hall of the DC’s office in Golaghat. The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Dr P. Uday Praveen.

Several proposals of the State Disaster Response Fund regarding compensation for damage caused by storm, hail stone, lightning and fire in the district this year were discussed and passed.

District Project Officer, District Disaster Management Authority, Rani Rajkumar explained in detail in the meeting with the help of a power-point presentation regarding the loss and compensation due to the natural calamities in the district for the current year. A resolution was moved in the meeting regarding one-time relief for a person who lost his life due to a natural calamity, more than 2,500 houses damaged in storms, hailstorms and lightning strikes and compensation for 18 houses and other infrastructure damaged in public functions and fire incidents and compensation for other houses and other infrastructure.

In the meeting, agriculture, public works (roads), public works (building), electricity department, animal husbandry and veterinary, panchayat and rural development and water resources department submitted a number of proposals for the loss of livestock, farms, bridges, roads etc. in natural calamities.

The district commissioner directed the circle officer-level staff to be more vigilant during the flood situation and to hold a meeting on the 15th of every month to discuss the damage proposals. He called upon the Circle Officer-level workforce to be careful not to deprive any real victim who has suffered losses due to natural calamities.

In this case, he emphasized field studies so that fake names are not included in the list of damages. He also directed the circle officers to ensure that the affected people get relief materials immediately during the floods. Additional District Commissioner Damodar Barman, Dhansiri Sub Divisional Magistrate Dingsengpha Baruah, representatives of MPs and MLAs, Additional Superintendent of Police Mrinmoy Das, and other officers were present in the meeting.
