TINSUKIA: Along with other districts of Assam, District Health Society Tinsukia ceremonially launched National Deworming Day on Monday at Lejaihola Janamukh Anganwadi centre Borguri Tinsukia under Urban CDPO Block of Tinsukia.
The launching was done by Monjit Borkakoty, ADC (Health) Tinsukia, in the presence of Dr Altaf Ahmed, Joint Director of Health Services, Tinsukia, who also briefed the participants as to how and why to consume deworming tablets. ASHAs, AWWs, ANMs of urban Tinsukia were also present in the programme, stated Sangeeta Das, DME NHM Tinsukia.
The National Deworming programme (February 2021) is aimed from February 14 to February 28 for implementation across all five health blocks, including urban block, in the whole of Tinsukia district with necessary flexibility on protocols keeping in consideration the precautions to be taken due to COVID-19. The State SOP outlines how the frontline workers (i.e. ASHA/AWW/ANM/MPW) will engage for community-based deworming through door-to-door drug administration. In Tinsukia district, nearly 5,58,490 children will be administered Albendazole tablets during this whole deworming fortnight.
