District Road Safety Committee meet held under chairmanship of DC Swapnil Pal

DOOMDOOMA: An important meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office, Tinsukia under the chairmanship of DC Swapnil Pal on Friday. DC Pal directed the police and transport department to be more vigilant to prevent road traffic accidents (RTA) and reduce the number of road traffic deaths across the district. The DC directed the concerned departments to strictly enforce the traffic laws throughout the district and not to give exemption to violators of the traffic laws.

The meeting was attended by DC Swapnil Pal who urged the medical department to be alert at all times to provide immediate treatment to the injured persons. He directed the District Transport and Police Department not to exempt the violent and drunk drivers under any circumstances. He urged the transport and police departments to identify the NHs and other accident prone places and take necessary measures. The DC also directed the district transport department to take necessary steps to create road safety awareness throughout the district. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the police and district transport department to take appropriate action against vehicles.

DC Pal also directed to take action against vehicles driving at excessive speed and carrying excessive loads. He also directed the Public Works Department to identify the damaged roads and take immediate repair measures. The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Sushanta Dutta, Head Officers and Representatives of Police Department, Traffic Department, Transport Department, Public Works (Roads) Department, Excise and Health and Education Departments of the district.
