District Veterinary department organizes awareness camp in Dibrugarh

District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department has started a massive awareness campaign in the district

DIBRUGARH: District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department has started a massive awareness campaign in the district following report of pig deaths in identified diseases. In order to identify and control of such disease, the department has organized an awareness camp among the people of those areas where pig deaths were reported. Attending such camps held at Tengakhat, Khowang, Duliajan and other areas, the veterinary doctors asked the swine farmers to keep their pig farms clean and abstain from bringing pigs from unknown sources or supply to another places from their own farms besides various steps to be taken for prevention of disease.

Pig farms' owners were asked that instead of throwing carcass of dead pigs in surrounding places it should be buried by digging six feet deep hole spraying bleaching powder. The farm owners also asked to report nearest veterinary hospital or Animal Health sub-center if any symptoms of disease were witnessed in their farm stock. Mass publicity campaign have been carried out among the people through Radio Brahmaputra and other means of publicity. Public Health Engineering Department has been carrying out sanitization campaign in and around the affected areas.
