Divyangjan Health Camp-cum-spot certificate distribution programme held in Tinsukia

As a visionary and maiden move for the first time in Assam, the Tinsukia district administration arranged a district level Divyangjan Health Camp-cum-spot certificate distribution programme christened as ‘Mission Thoughtful Tinsukia’ at the premises of ASHA Griha on Monday.

TINSUKIA : As a visionary and maiden move for the first time in Assam, the Tinsukia district administration arranged a district level Divyangjan Health Camp-cum-spot certificate distribution programme christened as ‘Mission Thoughtful Tinsukia’ at the premises of ASHA Griha on Monday.

Conceptualized by the District Commissioner Swapneel Paul, the initiative would benefit several hundred guardians of differently-abled persons who failed to procure disability certificates and were deprived of government benefits and other supports. The programme was launched in collaboration with Rotary Club of Tinsukia, Lions Club of Tinsukia and Marwari Yuva Manch, A total 120 differently-abled persons from Guijan and Tinsukia ICDS block were awarded disability certificates in first phase after thorough medical check-up by medical board.

Addressing the gathering, DC Paul said that after several guardians reported to him about non-issuance of disability certificate on technical grounds particularly on orthopaedic cases, the Anganwadi workers led by CDPOs of Tinsukia conducted house to house survey in entire district and detected 6,590 cases of which around 1,600 do not have disability certificates. In next 3-4 months, the certificates would be issued to in a phased manner, informed Paul and concluded the campaign with a quote ‘meant for the people who need the support most’.

The main components of ‘Mission Thoughtful Tinsukia’ are Disability Certificate, UDID for all Divyangjan persons, District Divyangjan Atlas and Aids & Prosthetics for all, Paul informed.
