DNPL Announces Project To Supply Piped Gas to Guwahati by Dec 2022

DNPL is working with the Central Government to provide Piped Gas to the capital of Assam by December next year through the National Gas Grid Pipeline.

GUWAHATI: The capital city Guwahati is likely to receive piped gas by December 2022 according to Duliajan Numaligarh Pipeline Limited (DNPL). The work is in progress to bring the gas line to Guwahati, adding that the city can expect to get piped gas by December next year, claimed an official.

In order to implement the City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks, Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), Oil India Limited (OIL) and GAIL Gas Limited, a consortium of three public sector units have formed a new consortium.

Through an intermediate spur line from Barauni in Bihar to Guwahati, the Union Government has agreed to extend the National Gas Grid Pipeline (Urja Ganga Project) from Jagadishpur in Western Uttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal. GAIL India Limited is carrying out the Gas Pipeline Construction work.

The Assam Government believes that this project will boost the industrial sector, power generation sector, automotive CNG sector and domestic piped gas to households sector thereby acting as a catalyst for huge development and employment opportunities throughout Assam and the Northeast Region.

The 14th Annual General Meeting of DNPL was held recently. DNPL's gross income from operations was Rs 101.50 crore for the fiscal year 2020-21. After the deduction of tax, the company's profit was Rs 40.69 crores. It has surged to 14.58 per cent from Rs 35.42 crores in the previous fiscal year.

The company also announced a dividend of 6 per cent (Rs 0.60) per paid-up equity share of Rs 10.00 each 0n the paid-up share capital of Rs 10.04 crores.
