Dodhia forest village flooded due to incessant rains in Dibrugarh district

DIBRUGARH: Due to incessant rains for the past several days, Dodhia forest village in Dibrugarh district has been flooded. The village is located inside the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and is inhabited by the Mising community people.

Every year during the flood, the people of the village are affected and become homeless. Dipjyoti Hatikakati, the project officer of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), said that at least 3,857 people at Dodhia forest village have been affected by the incessant rain. Moreover, one school and one Anganwadi centre have also been inundated by the flood waters.

He said that erosion by the Brahmaputra has also been witnessed at Gereki village in Dibrugarh district. Relief distribution to the flood-affected people will be carried out from Thursday. On the other hand, due to constant rain for the last few days, the people of Dibrugarh town are having a harrowing time. Rain water has entered some shops causing problems for the businessmen. In some areas of Dibrugarh town many houses are under water.
