DOOMDOOMA: As a part of College Week of Doomdooma College, a cultural rally was brought out recently with the participation of all the departments of the college with various themes.
The Department of English exhibited a pride rally with an innovative theme of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) for the first time in the history of the college.
English Honours students took the initiative as an inspiration from their syllabus. The Dibrugarh University prescribes a paper for third semester English honours students, namely Popular Literature (Paper Code: 30200) which has references of Queer Theory. Another significance of the theme was that June is considered as the Pride Month and organizing a Pride Rally is a strong support to the LGBTQ community by the English Department students.
