Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha remembered Litterateur Jogesh Das

Eminent litterateur Jogesh Das’ commemorative meeting was organized by Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX) on Thursday in a solemn function held at its venue.

DOOMDOOMA: Eminent litterateur Jogesh Das' commemorative meeting was organized by Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX) on Thursday in a solemn function held at its venue.

The programme got underway with lighting of lamp by president of Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX), Bimala Baruah in front of the portrait of Jogesh Das. Arjun Baruah, president of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha, paid floral tributes in his memory. Anusmita Bharadwaj presented a song of Jayanta Hazarika at the start of the meeting. Rumi Khaleng, Assistant Professor, Doomdooma College, who was the chief guest of the occasion, dwelt at length about the life and works of Das who hailed from Doomdooma and was first to become president of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) and recipient of the Sahitya Akademi award for his collection of short stories Prithibir Axukh, from this region. He shot to fame with the publication of his novel Dawar Aru Nai based on the backdrop of the Second World War and considered to be one of the best novels in Assamese by the critics. The meeting was also addressed by journalist Dhiren Deka.
