Drawing Competition on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Held in Silchar

SILCHAR: Silchar legislator Dipayan Chakraborty’s drawing competition on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose with the participation of about 1760 children has set a distinctive example in the entire State. On Sunday, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty took special initiative with the help of the management of Silchar “Netaji Murti Nabanirman O Sthapana Committee” to convey the respect, ideology and ideals of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to the new generation.

Speaking on the occasion MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said that a new statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose would be installed in Silchar. The installation ceremony was scheduled to take place on August 25 at Rangirkhari in Silchar, and the Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, and Tripura were invited to participate in the event. Chakraborty made this announcement during the inaugural ceremony of an art competition organized by the Netaji Murti Nabanirman O Sthapana Committee.

MLA Chakraborty also highlighted the city’s significant population and size growth, which prompted the special initiative to establish a new statue of Netaji Bose. He commended the previous efforts made to erect Netaji’s statue and expressed his hope that the new statue would enhance the city’s beauty. Donations were being collected from individuals based on their ability to ensure widespread participation in the statue’s installation. Cachar Deputy Commissioner also presented a cheque of Rs. 50,000 to support the reconstruction and installation of the statue.

Talking at the event Cachar Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha also praised the large number of participants in the sit-and-draw competition and announced plans to organize similar events on District Day, which falls on June 13. He urged the children to follow Netaji’s ideals.

While addressing the students and participants, Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatto congratulated the contestants, parents, and organisers for their contribution to Assam’s biggest drawing competition. He expressed hope that this tradition would continue to flourish among the new generation.

Several notable individuals, including Dr. Nirmal Kanti Roy, Dr. Ganesh Nandi, Dr. S.C. Das, Dr. Debashish Chakraborty, Dr. Gautam Dutta, Sandipan Dutta Purkayastha, Debashish Shome, and others, were present at the event. The event was conducted by Nilotpal Sengupta, stated a press release.
