BAKSA: Taking advantage of the alleged indifference of the health department, a number of unlicensed pharmacies have been mushrooming in the villages of Tamulpur subdivision.
Dr Bedang Talukdar, Subdivision Officer (Civil) of Tamulpur subdivision, issued an order to Additional Commissioner and magistrate Pritam Thakuriya to submit a report overseeing the illegally developed pharmacies in Tamulpur subdivision. Pritam Thakuria toured various parts of the subdivision and submitted a report to the subdivision administration following the order of the Subdivision Officer. Based on this report, the Tamulpur subdivision administration on Thursday raided a number of pharmacies at the Medical Chowk in Tamulpur subdivision town in cooperation with the Drugs Inspector. During the operation, Maa Medicos was sealed in the presence of the magistrate as the owner of the pharmacy could not produce the appropriate documents.
Additional Commissioner of Tamulpur, Pritam Thakuriya told the media, "In Tamulpur subdivision, there are a number of pharmacies without license. The Tamulpur subdivision administration has been taking strict action and the crackdown on illegal pharmacies will continue. The operation in Tamulpur subdivision will be intensified in the next few days."
