DIBRUGARH: In the drive against drugs and other anti-social activities in recent times, the police arrested another drug peddler and recovered 58 grams heroin and cash Rs 93,000 from his possession. The arrested peddler was later identified as Annanta Gogoi of Nutun Nirmali Gaon.

The police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Arup Jyoti Bora, OC Rajib Saikia, and TSI Arjun Singh, based on an input, carried out a raid at Annanta Gogoi's residence at Nirmali Gaon and arrested Gogoi and seized the drugs, cash and over 500 tiny containers for peddling drugs from his residence.

Recent arrest of drug peddlers and seizure of significant amount of such deadly drugs from the possession of local Assamese youths from new areas of the town and nearby villages has proved that peddling of drugs is presently not limited in some of the earmarked areas of the town. It is also a matter of concern that local youths are also getting involved in such drug peddling which many consider as a bad omen for society.
