Drugs, arms and ammunition seized in Sonitpur district

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Sonitpur police under the supervision of SP, Sushanta Biswa Sarma and Additional SP, (Headquarters) Madhurima Das conducted an operation.

TEZPUR: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Sonitpur police under the supervision of SP, Sushanta Biswa Sarma and Additional SP, (Headquarters) Madhurima Das conducted an operation.

The operation team was led by SI Dipu Bora, OC Chariduar PS, along with ASI Paban Kumar Sut, IC Bhalukpong OP and staff. The team conducted a raid at No. 2 Pub Mansiri village under Chariduar PS in the Sonitpur district. After a thorough search of the houses and premises of Tikira Muchahary, (45), TepraKhakhlary, (42) and Rabha @ Lengra, (32), resident of village No 2 Pub Mansiri under Chariduar PS, police recovered and seized three hand-made guns, 12 live ammunitions, and two empty cases. During interrogation, they said that the guns were used for hunting in the jungle. Further investigation is going on, said Additional SP Madhurima Das.

In another raid was conducted by Sonitpur police, a Naka checking was laid near the Kaliabhomora Bridge. During checking, one bike bearing registration number AS 12AE 5210 which was coming from Kaliabor side, was seized and two persons were apprehended. They have been identified as Merajul Hoque, resident of Batamari village under Tezpur PS, and Arshad Ali, resident of No 2 Dolabari under Tezpur PS. During search, police recovered 36 containers filled with suspected heroin and weighing 49 gm from their possession.
