Drugs seized; two arrested from Assam's Tinsukia town

Tinsukia police pursued them from Dibrugarh and on their arrival at New Tinsukia Railway Station, the duo was arrested.

TINSUKIA: Close on the heels of seizure of huge quantity of drugs on Thursday from Tinsukia town, the Tinsukia Sadar police led by Parag Jyoti Buragohain officer-in-charge, in yet another operation, nabbed 2 traffickers including a woman from New Tinsukia Railway station on Friday evening. The persons were boarding Tinsukia bound Rangia Express from Dimapur carrying suspected drugs.

Tinsukia police pursued them from Dibrugarh and on their arrival at New Tinsukia Railway Station, the duo was arrested. The peddlers have been identified as Pranab Darjee, son of Dhan Bahadur Darjee of Milan Nagar Chapakhowa under Sadiya Police Station and Priyanka Saikia, daughter of Lt Mukut Saikia, residing at 16 No Tiniali, Kamalabari Road under Duliajan Police Station. Police, after searching them, recovered 8 packets of suspected heroin weighing 112.96 grams. While one packet was recovered from Pranab Darjee, the rest 7 packets were recovered from Priyanka Saikia.
