Dry days declared in view of the upcoming 1st phase of Assam Elections

In view of the upcoming first phase of Assembly elections in Sonitpur district, the Deputy Commissioner vide an order has declared dry days throughout the area of Sonitpur district w.e.f 6 PM of March 25 to 6.00 PM of March 27, 2021.

TEZPUR: In view of the upcoming first phase of Assembly elections in Sonitpur district, the Deputy Commissioner vide an order has declared dry days throughout the area of Sonitpur district w.e.f 6 PM of March 25 to 6.00 PM of March 27, 2021.

Moreover, the day of counting of votes which is fixed on May 2, 2021 is also declared a Dry Day in the district till the process of counting is over.

All government licensed IMFL retail OFF/ON shops, hotel ON, clubs, country spirit retail shops and wholesale warehouses, IMFL wholesale warehouses, in the district will remain closed on these days. It is prohibited to sell, possess, distribute and consume any kind of intoxicants in the area during the period. Any violation of the order shall be dealt with under relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act and Rules. [Also Check - Dry Day Announced on Holi Mahotsav in Guwahati]

GOLAGHAT: In view of the first phase of ensuing General Election to the Assam State Legislative Assembly-2021, the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat vide an order has declared Dry Day from 6 PM of March 25 to 6.00 PM of March 27, 2021 and on the day of counting on May 2 till the process of counting is over.

During the Dry Day, all wholesale warehouses, IMFL retail OFF / ON / Club ON / Hotel ON and Country Spirit Shops will remain closed. Further, during this period the storage of liquor in unlicensed premises has been banned. Steps will be taken to prohibit sale of liquor in adjoining areas of the district with the State of Nagaland. Any violation of this order will be dealt with under the relevant provisions of Assam Excise Act and Rules and under the provision of Section 135 C of Election Rules.
