Earth Hour: APDCL Urges People in Assam to Switch-Off Lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM Today

After switching off your lights, here's how you can spend the Hour with your friends, family, and community - whether at home, outside

GUWAHATI: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has urged people of Assam to support the "Earth Hour" by switching off the lights (except most essential lights) from 8-30 PM to 9-30 PM today.

"Earth Hour" is an initiative by WWF.

What is World Earth Hour?

Earth Hour, organized by WWF, is a global grassroots movement uniting people to take action on environmental issues and protect the planet. Engaging a massive mainstream community, Earth Hour was famously started as a lights out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007.

When did Earth Hour start?

The first Earth Hour event was held on 31 March 2007. WWF-Australia inspired Sydney-siders to show their support for climate action. More than 2.2 million individuals and 2,000 businesses turned their lights out for one hour in the first Earth Hour event.
