Guwahati: An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale shook parts of Assam on Saturday evening. The earthquake occurred at 8.18 pm with its epicenter in Bongaigaon.
It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. The coordinates are 26.24N (latitude) and 90.51E (longitude), the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said.
Till the filing of this report, no damage was reported.
Bongaigaon had experienced a quake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale in February this year.
Assam and other states of the northeast have been experiencing mild tremors since May this year. The region had experienced 14 earthquakes in 18 days in June-July. Five took place in Mizoram followed by four in Assam, three in Meghalaya, and one each in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.
