Education Minister Ranoj Pegu inaugurates COVID vaccination campaign in Nagaon

Along with the rest of the State, the State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu ceremonially inaugurated the COVID vaccination campaign among the 15-18 age group of students fraternity across the district at a function held here at Nowgong Govt Boys’ Higher Secondary School on Monday.

NAGAON: Along with the rest of the State, the State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu ceremonially inaugurated the COVID vaccination campaign among the 15-18 age group of students fraternity across the district at a function held here at Nowgong Govt Boys' Higher Secondary School on Monday.

While inaugurating the vaccination campaign, Dr Pegu urged the students not to be hesitated to receive the doses of the vaccine and also appealed to the guardians to play a pivotal role to encourage their children in this regard. The district administration as well as district health services have targeted to vaccinate the students of around 22 educational institutions in the district so far.

Local MLA Rupak Sarma, Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Nisharg Hawre and other officials from district health services were present in the inaugural programme, an official release added.

Meanwhile, the minister also attended a function organised on the occasion of 'Pragyar Sadhona Din' by Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev Vishwavidyalaya at the district library auditorium on Monday.

It is pertinent to mention that Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev Vishwavidyalaya has decided to observe the first working day of every new year from the current year onwards as 'Pragyar Sadhona Din' - the day for imitation of wisdom and estimated to publish books on special category every year.

Addressing the occasion, the minister said the world reels to change in a speeding way. What knowledge one has exactly learnt today in the university or other institutions will prove as obsolete tomorrow. The new knowledge, new database will come to the forefront on a daily basis and the people are enforced to learn again all those new concepts, ideas, database and knowledge after the university as education and learning as a non-stop system in human lives, Dr Pegu asserted further.

Dr Noni Gopal Mahanta, the state advisor to the education department, govt of Assam, local MLA Rupak Sarma, the secretary general of Srimanta Shankardev Sangha Babul Bora also graced the occasion as guests and spoke on the system as well as policies of state education.

Vice chancellor of Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev Vishwavidyalaya Dr Hitesh Deka chaired the function while the registrar of Shankardev Vishwavidyalaya Dr Mrinal Kr Bora initiated the vote of thanks in the function.
