GAURISAGAR: Gaurisagar Press Club, in association with Triluchan Sanskritic Mancha, Gaurisagar, organized a ‘Rajahuwa Smrti Charan Sabha’ on Sunday at Gaurisagar Daily Market Tini Ali in fond memory of professor Deven Dutta, noted educationist, former vice principal of Cotton College (Now University) and a prominent social activist who passed away on August 17.
The meeting started with lighting of lamp in front of the portrait of Deven Dutta which was lit by Muhi Kanta Nath, former principal of Gaurisagar Junior College. The ‘Smrti Charan Sabha’ was conducted by Padum Kumar Sakia, president of Gaurisagar Press Club while secretary Rajib Dutta anchored the programme.
In the programme, Mhikanta Nath , Jivamoni Nath, Assistant Professor, Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah college and Central Executive Member of ,Axom Xahitya Xabha (AXX), Jibon Krishna Goswami, noted novelist, Rekhamoni Borah, Assistant School Inspector, Block Elementary Education Office, Amguri Education Block, Nripen Hazarka, former Vice principal, Gaurisagar H.S.Industrial Institute, Thanu Bharali, social worker and Treasurer Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilani took part.
Addressing the gathering, Jivamoni Nath emphasized the life and contribution of late Deven Dutta towards the fields of education and social development as well as the safeguard of Assamese language. He stated that Dutta fought till death for perfection of Assamese language. Late Dutta also raised his voice for the burning issues of the State.
In the meeting, Muhi Kanta Nath, Jibon Krishan Goswami, Rekhamoni Borah, teacher Sasanka Nath. social workers Mrinaka Saikia, Rupa Saikia, Kamakhya Baruah, cultural activist Rajen Boiragi and AASU activist Roman Dutta recalled the contribution of late Deven Dutta. A good number of people hailing from Dikhowmukh, Charing , Hatighuli, Bhatiapar took part in the meeting and paid tribute to the noted educationist. Earlier, Montu Kalita, Chief Management of Triluchan Sanskritic Mancha offered vote of thanks.
