MANGALDAI: Despite the government guidelines on restriction on the movement of aged persons above 65 years and children below 10 years, a good number of elderly persons and mothers with their babies were seen thronging the crowded market in Mangaldai town on the very first day of relaxation on lockdown.
No social distancing was followed in the crowded markets, streets and shops. On seeing this crowd, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah and Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan toured the major points of the town and were astonished to find persons above 65 years and mothers with babies on the streets, some even without masks. Deputy Commissioner Borah offered masks to several persons, including a mother with a baby, and arranged a vehicle to drop them home. He even requested an elder citizen not to stand in queue for LPG cylinder and assured him to arrange for home delivery.
