SILCHAR: Eminent gynaecologist of South Assam Dr Arun Paul Choudhury breathed his last in Tata Cancer Hospital, Kolkata at around 1.45 am on Sunday night. Dr Paul Choudhury, a Professor in the department of Gynaecology in Dhubri Medical College, was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2022. He was 63 and left behind his wife and two sons. His mortal remains would be flown back to Silchar from Kolkata for last rites.
Dr Arun Paul Choudhury, an immensely popular gynaecologist, was associated with Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a long period. Last year he was transferred to Dhubri Medical College.
After he was diagnosed with lung cancer, Dr Paul Choudhury was admitted at a Mumbai hospital. Later he was taken back to Silchar but since then his health continued to remain unstable. In last December, his condition was further deteriorated and he was airlifted to Kolkata. For the last couple of weeks, Dr Paul Choudhury was practically fighting for his life in Tata Cancer Hospital and there was no sign of recuperation. SMCH authority mourned the demise of Dr Paul Choudhury as the Principal Dr Babul Bezbaruah said, "A great loss to the society."
