Eminent writer, cultural activist Indu Bhushan Nath passes away

TEZPUR: Eminent writer, cultural activist, renowned theatre personality and former Deputy Director, I&PR, Indu Bhushan Nath passed away on Wednesday morning at his Chanmari Dakshin Hazarapar residence around 4 am. He was 82, suffering from prolonged illness and was bedridden. He departed from our midst leaving behind his wife, a son and two daughters, who had also served as DIPRO of Sonitpur district for two terms. First from September 1, 1981 to November 4, 1988 and his second stint was from October 3, 1994 to October 31, 1998. He retired from service on October 31, 1998. He was closely associated with many social organizations here, including Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, Axom kobi Sanmilan, Kamrupia Sanatan Dharma Mandali, Ban Theatre, Madhya Tezpur Bihu Sanmilan etc.

Asomiya Club, Bhoomi, Tezpur Xahitya Xabha, Sonitpur Press Club, Ban Theatre, Tezpur Rangali Bihu Sanmilan Samittee, Sonitpur Journalist Union and hundreds of cultural activists, social workers, members of various cultural groups and organisations, local artistes and Tezpur MLA, Prithi Raj Rava, Former Minister, Brindaban Goswami paid floral tributes to him and also condoled his demise. In his condolence message, Local MLA Prithi Raj Rava said Indra Bhushan's contributions to the growth of Assamese Society in the State would be remembered for generations to come.
