UDALGURI: An export conclave was organized by Udalguri district Industries and Commerce Centre in association with the district administration as part of celebration of Vanijya Saptah, commemorating the 75 years of India's Independence, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
As part of the Vanijya Saptah, a two-day long Export Conclave was organized with an aim to explore the potentiality of the exportable products produced in the district, create market avenues within and outside the country, tie up with exporters, and showcase the exportable products and their prospects and problems. The export conclave was chaired by Dr. P Uday Praveen, the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, and attended by Naren Malakar, Assistant Director, Sericulture, A Bezborah, the Development Officer, Tea Board of India, Udalguri, and other dignitaries.
As per the directives of the Commerce & Industries Department, Government of India, every State has to celebrate the Vanijya Saptah as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The District Export Promotion Committee constituted had identified the Orthodox Tea (Black & Green) and Eri yarn fabric as exportable products from the district. Dr. P Uday Praveen, the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, said that there was very high demand for Assam tea and sericulture products in India and abroad and he requested entrepreneurs to utilize the facilities of e-platform like Flipkart, Amazon to market/ export their products. He also emphasized creating awareness about the exposure of various e-commerce platforms.
Naren Malakar, the Assistant Director, Sericulture, gave a detailed account of the present status of the departmental activities/schemes and various infrastructure available to promote the sericulture products in the district.
An exhibition-cum-sale of the exportable products produced in the district was also held which was attended by a large number of visitors, including Nilut Swargiary, the EM of BTC.
