NCC cadets from Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Chirang, Kokrajhar, and Nalbari took part in the programme.
Commandant of 7 Bn. Assam NCC, Col Niraj Bakshi highlighted various achievements of NCC since its inception in 1948. “The 71 years history of NCC is full of acts of heroism and valour” he added.
Col Bakshi said that the NCC was raised in 1948 in the Army while Navy NCC was raised in 1952 and Air Force in 1950. Now there are over 15 lakh NCC cadets across the country. The NCC is gradually growing from strength to strength and taking big strides in the field of sports and other fields, Col Bakshi added.
“Since my joining here, I too have been trying to improve performance of NCC cadets at all levels and each and everyone is cooperating with me to get the things done, particularly Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma and Principal of Bhola Nath College, Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty who extended all assistance and provided logistic support too,” Col Bakshi further said. He further said that the Social Welfare Minister had also helped to adopt a blind school in Guwahati recently, for which the NCC would remain grateful to her.
While addressing the meeting, Principal of Bholanath College, Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty said, “NCC office land was provided by Bhola Nath College and all their physical training programmes are organized here. Because of the efforts put together by our college and NCC, many cadets get selected for national-level competitions,” Dr. Chakrabortty added.
