Eviction of illegal encroachment demanded in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: More than 37,000 bighas of land in Biswanath Revenue Circle are reportedly under illegal encroachment and the information has been acquired through the Right to Information Act. In this respect, Biswanath Khilanjia Suraksha Eikya Mancha met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday during his visit to Biswanath Chariali and submitted a memorandum. The information revealed that some encroachers have been occupying land from 50 to 120 bighas. The organization claimed that many other areas such as No 1, 3 and 4 Salia revenue villages and No 1 Kumlia revenue village under Biswanath Mouza, No 2 Barjarani revenue village and Birijan revenue village under Baghmara Mouza, and No 2 Diring Pathar revenue village under Sankomatha Mouza have become extremely sensitive and it has posed a serious threat to the local indigenous people.

The Chief Minister assured necessary action to de-encroach the land and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath to hold discussions with the association.
