TINSUKIA: Extensive excise search, patrolling and raids were conducted on Saturday by Margherita Excise team under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Margherita, Prasanta Dutta.
The operation was conducted in areas like 4 No. Makum Pathar, Machgaon, Chirogaon, Tengapathar, 1 & 2 No Lajum, around Civil Hospital Margherita, Veener Mill Bazar (Natun Line), Margherita Town under Margherita Police Station. A total of seven cases were detected and one Dilip Baruah (62) was arrested under section 53(1)(a) of AE Act 2000 (as amended). The items seized and destroyed were illicit distilled liquor 110 litres and fermented wash 50 litres.
